Our Team
The research team brings together essential expertise from the disciplines of Anthropology, Film, and Design. It is led by A/Prof Alfio Leotta, Dr Paola Tiné and Dr Kevin Romond.
ALFIO LEOTTA
Alfio Leotta is Associate Professor at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. Leotta published extensively on the relation between film and cultural heritage. He is also an award-winning filmmaker who produced several short films that have screened at festivals in Aotearoa and overseas and is the founder and director of the Aotearoa Poetry Film Festival.
PAOLA TINE'
Paola Tiné is Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology in the School of Social and Cultural Studies at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. She has conducted long-term ethnographic research on linguistic practices in Sicily. She is also a practicing artist interested in developing interdisciplinary approaches to engage a wider public and effectively disseminate knowledge outside of academia.
KEVIN ROMOND
Kevin Romond is Senior Lecturer in Animation and Visual Effects at the School of Design Innovation. He is an expert practitioner in performance capture, virtual production, animation, and visual effects at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. He has over 20 years of experience producing computer-generated visual effects for feature films. His credits include King Kong (2005), Avatar (2009), and Avengers (2012).
